Type 2 Hypervisor

A Type 2 hypervisor is a virtualization software that is installed on top of a host operating system. It is also known as a hosted hypervisor.

In a Type 2 hypervisor, the host operating system provides the underlying hardware resources, such as CPU, memory, and storage, to the virtual machines created by the hypervisor. The hypervisor then creates a virtualized environment for the guest operating systems to run within the host operating system.

The advantage of a Type 2 hypervisor is that it is easy to install and does not require dedicated hardware. It can be installed on any computer or server that runs a compatible host operating system. It is also easy to manage and configure, and allows users to run multiple virtual machines on a single physical machine.

Some examples of Type 2 hypervisors include Oracle VirtualBox, VMware Workstation, and Parallels Desktop. These hypervisors are commonly used by developers, system administrators, and power users to run multiple operating systems and applications on a single desktop or laptop computer.
